Introducing Shaftesbury Icanho’s 2024-25 annual report

Shaftesbury Icanho’s latest annual report shows how the service has continued to provide vital rehabilitation for people living in Suffolk with an acquired brain injury including stroke, supporting more than 120 clients and their families between April 2024 and March 2025.

Throughout the year, Shaftesbury Icanho provided specialist assessment and bespoke interdisciplinary rehabilitation programmes tailored to individual needs. This included individual and group therapy appointments at the centre, home visits, help to access community activities and remote sessions where appropriate.

Highlights included:

  • 98.7% of clients partially or fully achieved their rehabilitation goals. This includes physical, functional and vocational, communication and emotional wellbeing.
  • Working closely with the NHS and voluntary sector partners to improve joined-up care, including contributing to an NHS England–funded project improving six-month stroke reviews across Suffolk and Northeast Essex.
  • An independent external review to support continuous improvement and identify more effective ways of working.
  • The introduction of the SystemOne electronic patient record system, improving information sharing with GPs and community health teams.
  • Fundraising enabling investment in innovative rehabilitation technology, including NeuroVirt virtual reality therapy.
  • Strengthening engagement with local community partners through stakeholder events and open days, including at the Waveney satellite service.
  • The launch of the monthly Neuro Café peer support group, to support people affected by neurological conditions and their families.
